And happy first post of both this calendar and lunar year. Gratitude and greetings to all of my new & returning subscribers. I’m definitely cooking up a (re)introduction post coming to you all this ☉ Sunday but I have some big news to share in the meantime!

Some of you may know already if you subscribe to my Substack recs but I am happy to announce that I am the new Guest Curator of Cultural Programs for SISTORIES literary magazine!
SISTORIES is a Southern-based queer Black feminist/womanist storysharing organization that recognizes reflexive storytelling as an ancestral healing tool. They envision a world where the needs revealed through our stories are met. Where the holistic wellbeing–emotional, psychological, spiritual, and material–of all Black women, femmes, and gender-expansive Black people is prioritized. I’m so excited to bring my fullest self to this role via my principal program, In The Style of Liberation.
Introducing the Luminary Editorial Incubator
As part of this program, I’m stewarding the Luminary Editorial Incubator for Black Feminist Writers (LEI). This fellowship is my latest contribution to the collective in the curation of spaces I believe have the power to shape change within our hearts, minds and communities. LEI is both a study & publishing incubator, with the amazing staff of SISTORIES operating as editorial mentors, and some comrades I deeply admire to support the Luminary fellows in designing and developing a study plan for their time within the incubator.
Immense gratitude for SISTORIES for trusting me as Program Director of this space, and I’m excited to review applications with the LEI team! We’ve received so much positive feedback and desire to tap in that we’ve expanded the potential fellow pool to those located in the Southeastern US (SC, GA, VA, WV, MD/DC, AL, LA, MS, KT, TN, FL). Fellows also receive a $1500 stipend as part of their participation in the incubator to use to actualize themselves however they deem fit. More about the fellowship below!
